Research interests

Area of interest: Colour vision. An animal’s colour vision system allows it to exploit its environment based upon the colours of the salient objects in that environment. Looking at different species, we find that the set of colours most relevant to animals and the spectral sensitivities of their visual systems differ. If we can better understand the evolutionary and theoretical forces that shape animals’ visual systems, we can create machines better able to adapt to different visual environments.
