Research interests

In general, I am interested in the miniature brain of insects. Honeybee brain, for example, has only less than 1 million neurons, and it maintains a rich behaviour repertoire and remarkable cognitive capacity. How is the 1mm3 tiny circuit able to achieve this? Supervised by Prof. Lars Chittka, my PhD project is mainly focused on building computational models of a part of the insect brain (Mushroom Bodies), with an emphasis on the higher order visual information processing, learning and memory, and navigation. Recent work involves applying a biologically plausible Mushroom Body model to address the ant navigation problems.
