Research interests

In general, I am interested in the miniature brain of insects. Honeybee brain, for example, has only less than 1 million neurons, and it maintains a rich behaviour repertoire and remarkable cognitive capacity. How is the 1mm³ tiny circuit able to achieve this? Supervised by Prof. Lars Chittka, my PhD project is mainly focused on building computational models of a part of the insect brain (Mushroom Bodies), with an emphasis on the higher order visual information processing, learning and memory, and navigation. Recent work involves applying a biologically plausible Mushroom Body model to address the ant navigation problems.
